JCTR Executive Director to Present Webinar on Faith and Justice

Wednesday, March 25, Lusaka - In an increasingly complex global landscape, the tension between power and principle continues to shape international relations. The notion that “might makes right” appears to be regaining prominence, raising urgent questions about justice, accountability, and the role of ethical leadership in safeguarding the common good.

It is within this context that Fr. Daniel Mwamba Mutale, SJ (PhD), Executive Director of the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR), will deliver a keynote address in an upcoming webinar titled “Faith and Justice in an Era of ‘Might Makes Right’.”

Drawing on his experience as a Jesuit priest, economist, and social justice advocate, Fr. Mutale will reflect on how faith-based institutions and actors can respond meaningfully to the resurgence of power-driven global politics. His work spans economic justice, ecological advocacy, and governance, positioning him uniquely to engage this critical conversation.

Referencing the words of Pope Leo XIV, “Diplomacy based on force gravely threatens the rule of law, which is the foundation of all peaceful civil coexistence,” the webinar invites participants to consider how moral leadership and faith traditions can contribute to restoring balance in global governance.

The discussion will explore the prophetic role of the Church and civil society in advancing justice, amplifying marginalised voices, and promoting systems rooted in dignity, equity, and solidarity.
