OUR VALUES
The values that guide the work of JCTR are:
a) Human dignity -- respect for the basic equality and potential of every woman and man
b) Option for the poor -- criteria for evaluating all we are and do: what difference does this make for the poor?
c) Social justice – passion for eradication of poverty and promotion of integral and sustainable development, with commitment to necessary structural changes in society
d) Gender sensitivity – conscious promotion of equal opportunities for development of all women and men
e) Critical analysis – rigorous pursuit of truth in open and accountable fashion
f) Discernment – prayerful reflection on purpose, style, product, consequences of organization and activities
g) Rootedness – closeness to lives of ordinary people and the most vulnerable and their joys and hopes, sorrows and anxieties
h) Collaboration and participation – working with others in a mutually responsible way, with team work essential on the staff

The Centre engages in research, advocacy, education and consultant on key social issues like cost of living, social implications of debt servicing, accessibility of healthcare and education, and integrity of local democracy. It hosted debt cancellation campaigns in Zambia prior to debt cancellation in 2005 which led to debt cancellation of over US$6 billion dollars.
The Centre’s expertise ranges from economic development and poverty analysis, micro and macroeconomic analysis, governance and constitution, Human Rights Based Approach to development focusing on economic social and cultural rights such as health and education and agriculture and food security. We also have competence in Christian faith issues and offer trainings to various groups.
