LENT HOMILIES FOR LENT 2006 – YEAR B

01 February 2006.

Greetings from JCTR.

Peace of Christ.

We are very happy to send you 2006 Lenten homilies guidelines. It is our hope and trust that this Catholic Social Teaching dimension of the homilies will be able to add value to other dimensions of homilies during this Lenten season. We recognize that these guidelines will be enriched by the perspectives and experience of local pastoral leadership.

From reports that we have received over the years, we know that these homilies can be well used not only in Church services but also in meetings of Small Christian Communities, youth groups, study groups and private prayer.

During this season of Lent the main focus for which the JCTR is inviting all Christians to get involved in are the activities around the forthcoming tripartite elections. It is our hope and prayer that elections will be free and fair. This will only be possible if we start taking serious our responsibilities as citizens to actively participate in scrutinizing aspiring candidates and actually participating in voting when the times comes. While doing this we should keep focused toward celebrations of the great love of God made manifest in the suffering, death and resurrections of Jesus Christ at Easter.

We are grateful to Fr. Smart Chinyanwa, S.S., of Emmaus Spirituality Centre, who prepared these 2006 Lenten homilies.

We at JCTR wish you a very blessed and prayerful season of Lent. We will be very happy to hear from you as well about your evaluation of these homilies guidelines. Your reactions to the past and present homilies help us to perfect the future ones!

Should you need these homilies on soft-copy,send us and e-mail.

Thank you!
