Strategic Partners Meeting - March 2003

On 4th March 2003, Jubilee-Zambia organised a Strategic Partners’r Meeting in Lusaka.  Fourteen representatives from various civil society organisations attended the meeting.  The following were the main objectives of the meeting: MORE

Do loans rather than grants encourage greater responsibility from national governments. paper presented at the URODAD Annual Conference 27th - 30th November 2001 , Kandersteg, Switzerland

CSPR:  The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) Steering Committee meetings have commenced.  Jubilee-Zambia will continue to participate actively in the CSPR network as a member of the Steering Committee and in the task force on Media and Information Dissemination.

PLP:  Jubilee-Zambia is happy to announce that it is part of the Parliamentary Liaison Programme managed by the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP).  The aim of this programme is to build capacities in civil society organizations to engage effectively with Parliamentarians.  The first Civil Society-Parliamentary Conference will be held on 5th and 6th May 2002.  The main objective of the meeting is to enlighten civil society on how Parliament in Zambia operates.  Jubilee-Zambia has invited representatives from the Provincial teams to attend this meeting.

NGOCC:  Jubilee-Zambia will participate in the Non-Governmental Organisation Co-ordinating Committee (NGOCC) workshop on the 2002 Budget Gender Analysis.  This meeting will take place on 10th May 2002

MEDIA DAY:  This year, Jubilee-Zambia participated in this year’s media day activities under the theme “Media Reforms in Zambia.”  As a campaign movement, lack of access to information coupled with inadequate information on issues of concern has been hampering our progress as movement.  Therefore, we are supporting the media fraternity in its advocacy efforts for a better media environment that would assure access to information.

CCJP CO-ORDINATORS WORKSHOP:  This workshop was held from the 3rd to 4th May.  As you might be aware, the Debt Project is a joint project of CCJP and JCTR.  We have designed methods of ensuring that there is close collaboration, participation and consultation between the two organizations especially for purposes of planning and implementation.
