In the first quarter of 2011, Africa and the Arab world witnessed what may perhaps go down in political history as one of the most significant events of the 21st century. A revolutionary fire whose first spark was in Tunisia spread and engulfed Egypt and Libya (and some other countries in the Middle East), consuming in its path the dictatorial regimes which were otherwise thought to be invincible. Undoubtedly, the heat radiated by this fire was also felt by those African leaders who share the same political genes as Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Hosni Mubarak and Mummar Gaddafi.
