Malawi Bishop's Statement on the Synod -To move forward the process of implanting the Second African Synod, the Bishops Conference of Malawi held a presse conference in early December 2009 to present the background and message of the Synod. 4 December 2009

Pastoral Statement from the Zambia Episcopal conference to all Catholics in Zambia on the second special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops -  Offering specific steps to assist in the implantation of the Second African Synod in Zambia, this Pastoral Statement was read out at all Masses in the country on Sunday 10 January 2010.December 2009

Evangelisation and the Second African Synod. - To share the Good News is the task of the Church.  Deliberations and decisions of the Second African Synod helped the Church in Africa to be about more effective evangelisation, especially linking he Good News to reconciliation, peace and justice. 29 November 2009

African Synod confirms Jesuit Mission of Faith and Justice.-The message of the Second African Synod meeting in Rome in October 2009 strongly confirms the mission of the Jesuits for the “service of the faith and the promotion of justice.”  This, of course, is the foundation of the work and values of the JCTR. 28 November 2009

The Second African Synod: Challenge and help for our future Church -Following 15 years after the First African Synod, the meeting in Rome in October 2009 pushed forward the Church’s presence in Africa at the service of reconciliation, justice and peace.20 November 2009

Role and Relevance of the Laity- They are the ones who have ties with people who may have no living contact with Catholic Tradition. They are the ones who have ready entry to many relationships and situations where the clergy and religious would be unwelcome.Therefore, their participation and collaboration cannot be overemphasized. 11 October 2009

Women in the Church in Zambia- In Zambia women religious and lay women help our Church truly to be at the service of reconciliation, justice and peace. Women religious congregations, together in associations and/or as individual congregations are more active in pastoral care that is central to integral evangelization.08 October 2009  

Rural Economic injustices Challenges - There is the crisis experienced when crops our local hardworking farmers have grown fail to reach markets or having reached a market but fail to get good and just prices.  It is the crisis felt when foreign investors come in and supply their commercial supermarkets with crops imported from outside Zambia.  It is the crisis caused by trade practices and regulations both domestic and international that mean subsidised goods brought in from Europe curtail fair competition with local goods. 02 October 2009

“Synod: Relevant to Africa” – Pete Henriot argues that Zambia, even if “peaceful” in the sense of absence of violent conflict, still needs reconciliation in many important areas and the Church should address that in implementing the Synod.

Challenges for Religious” – three African religious (sister, brother, priest) outline specific challenges that the Synod theme raises for religious life and ministry
